Sleek, minimalist cases for maximum portability. Molecule 03 by Escentric Molecules is a fragrance for women and men. Molecule 03 was launched in 2010. The nose behind this fragrance is Geza Schoen.

Each metal case is blasted with stainless steel ‘sand’ to burnish the surface to a soft lustre. It is then anodised for high durability.

The upper face of the Molecule 03 case lid is stamped with the letter m in binary code: 01101101 and the number 03.

Molecule 03 consists of Vetiveryl Acetate, pure and singular.

Vetiveryl Acetate could be described as a hybrid molecule, half-natural, half-synthetic. It is a fraction of vetiver oil, distilled from the roots of an Indian grass, which is then ‘crossed’ with acetic acid to remove the bitter and leathery aspects of the root. Molecule 03 opens with a heady, sparkling brightness that develops into a rooty earthiness.

The result is an elegant and refined molecule with the woody, slightly grassy character of vetiver, but far smoother and softer. “Acetylation also brings out the grapefruit touch in vetiver,” says Geza Schoen, “giving a more pronounced bitter-fresh top note.”

The Molecule 03 fragrance is radically minimalist. It contains no odorants except the aroma-molecule, Vetiveryl Acetate. Those customers who find the Molecule fragrances too subtle may wish to try the Escentric fragrances, which will always have a more powerful diffusion.
